Social Media Coordinator Intern

Who We Are

ELEMENT is a community-based program in celebration of our individual and collective strength, our innate wisdom as men who love men, and our capacity for creating deep and meaningful communities. Our work, while building community, is to reduce the transmission of HIV and educate gay men in Denver on HIV Stigma, Status Disclosure and Intimacy. In addition to our community building work and HIV education, we offer support for gay men in Denver who are challenged by meth.

We Are Seeking

a creative and energetic individual who is intimately connected with Denver's gay male community, aware of activities/events where gay men gather, and who is a current Social Media/Marketing/Public relations student or recent graduate looking for practical training and experience in the social media field.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend ELEMENT's Touch Team training, and all relevant crew meetings
  • Post to, maintain and administer ELEMENT's existing Facebook page
  • Post to, maintain and administer ELEMENT's existing blog on website
  • Tweet regularly and build upon presence with existing Twitter account
  • Research, recommend, and build presence on additional social media sites (Connexion, MeetUp, etc.)
  • Develop a strategic social media plan for ELEMENT, integrating and coordinating all social media outlets efficiently and effectively
  • Develop and deliver social media training to current ELEMENT crew and designated volunteers
  • Be an ELEMENT Ambassador to community
  • Be knowledgeable and keep updated on current and relevant HIV and sexual health information

Skill Requirements:

  • Previous and current Social Media experience
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Articulate and creative communication skills
  • Advanced writing and copy editing skills
  • Ability to solve problems and work as a team
  • Well-organized, multi-task, and manage time efficiently
  • Work independently and with a team in a small office environment with gay men, and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to develop SM strategic plan and present training to group of 6 - 12 crew and volunteers
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Internet research

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum 3 month commitment (preferably longer)
  • Minimum 12 hours/week at ELEMENT studio, can work additional up to 8 - 12 hrs/wk off-site
