We are currently hiring for a master level Behavioral Health Specialist.
Pay Range $55,000 - $61,000 a year - Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking master’s level, full-time, behavioral health therapist. Therapist will specialize in treating clients living with HIV for mental health issues and/or substance misuse. Population of interest primarily men who have sex with men (MSM) as well as Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer communities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Treat all clients with dignity and respect
2. Provide mental health evaluations/problem identification, crisis interventions; assess the need for on-going treatment or referral to other agencies
3. Provide evaluations for the state Critical Event system for recommended level of care to assist with viral load suppression for clients living with HIV
4. Utilize ASAM criteria and DSM-V TR in diagnosis and level of care recommendations
5. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions
6. Provide case management services to participants as needed or assigned
7. Collaborate with the client to develop, implement, and revise individualized treatment plans and monitor treatment progress
8. Assist participants with psychological development, social development, and rehabilitation.
9. Assist participants in accessing community support services and health care
10. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with Medicaid and OBH standards in all areas including, but not limited to: counselor admit notes, assessments, daily charting, weekly clinical staffing notes, and discharge summaries.
11. Participate in team/department meetings, in-services, and supervisory sessions as required.
12. Attend Probation meetings or court hearings as needed to report client progress
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Master's Degree in social work or counseling. Working towards licensure as LCSW/LPC/LAC and/or CAT/CAS in the State of Colorado.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of one year of experience in clinical work. Experience working with the mental health and substance use participants and/or individuals involved with the judicial system.
SKILLS:
Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy. Knowledge of community resources. Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately. Familiarity with the DSM IV and diagnostic techniques. Effective

Internships
The Denver ELEMENT accepts masters level counseling and social work interns, along with bachelor’s level human services interns. Interns receive weekly individual and group supervision from a licensed professional counselor, a licensed addictions counselor, or a licensed social worker. While at the Denver ELEMENT, interns, based on education, provide evaluations/assessments, participate in group and individual counseling, and case management. Interns learn DAP style clinical documentation, DSM-5 diagnosis, Medicaid billing requirements, and treatment planning. Interns are immersed in a positive environment, surrounded daily by staff and other interns to make the internship not only educational but interpersonally engaging as well.

The Denver ELEMENT accepts applications year round, and will commit to an intern up to five months in advance. We have interns year round, and expect a minimum of four-month commitment for internships, and three month commitment for practicum students. Length of internships are determined by students’ university’s needs and availability. The Denver ELEMENT has a set amount of interns they can maintain during each semester, so once the spots have been filled we will not accept any more interns.
